Hello, and thanks for visiting my blog!
I decided to start a blog for a few reasons. One: I want to document my life and the life of my little peanut (who is about to turn one and not so little anymore!), and two: I hope that maybe something I write will help someone else in some way. I’ve found it difficult to research mommy-related things, because I’m very needy – I need specifics and find advice is often given in generalities, so be forewarned, you may get more specifics than you desire in my posts 🙂
Since I am starting a bit late – we’re 18 days away from baby girl’s first birthday – I will be doing some “throwback” posts to document some of the times we’ve already had and milestones we’ve already hit. I apologize for the onslaught of posts in the beginning. After I get caught up, I plan to blog a couple times per week. I hope you enjoy reading along and following our journey.
The Cast of Characters: I am Liz (Elizabeth, to be exact, and I’ve previously gone by Beth, so I’ll respond to any of the above!), a 37-year-old first-time mom to an amazing baby girl, Madison, and step-mom to two boys, Chris (12) and Kaiden (11). Christopher and Maddie live with myself and my wonderful hubby, KC (Kenneth Clyde), in Raleigh, NC. Kaiden lives with his mother in Richmond, VA and visits us on most weekends.
I am a Paralegal by day and proud to work at The Law Offices of James Scott Farrin for the past two years. KC stays home with Maddie during the day while I work, and he works a couple of evenings and week and on the weekends doing odd jobs. While subsisting on one full-time income is difficult, this is working for us, and I wouldn’t have it any other way. As Maddie gets older we may consider changing things around, but for now, this is what it is.
Have I mentioned that KC is the best Dada EVER? He’s taught me most, if not all, of what I know about parenting – which admittedly, isn’t very much. Maybe I’m dense, but who’da thunk it that just rubbing your chin on baby’s belly could produce so many giggles? That sticking your tongue out and bobbing your head back-and-forth is enough to cause fits of laughter? NOT ME! Maddie is a 100% Daddy’s Girl, and I wouldn’t have it any other way, for I was a Daddy’s Girl, too!
I’m excited to document and share our journey with you. I invite you to comment on my posts, ask any questions you may have, and follow along. May the patience be with you…
